These two women authors, Pearl Buck and Toni Morrison, are unique in women's history. They have accomplished three things that no other women have accomplished to this day. Both have won the Nobel Prize in Literature and the Pulitzer Prize, and both have been featured on a US postage stamp. They are the only two women in our history to achieve this honor. Pearl S. Buck was the first American women author to win the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1938 and the Pulitzer Prize in 1932, and was featured on a US postage stamp in 1983. Toni Morrison was the first African American woman to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, receiving the honor in 1993. [1, 2] Toni Morrison also won the Pulitzer Prize in Literature for Beloved in 1987. She was also featured on a U.S. postage stamp issued in 2023
